Uses of a Paracord Bracelet
A paracord bracelet is very handy for creating a shelter. You can untie the knots and utilize the inner strands to lash the branches together. The most popular way of creating a shelter in the wild is to tie a log horizontally between two trees and lash branches together for the roof.
Another thing, a survival bracelet is also great for fishing. Simply unbraid your bracelet and affix a bait and hook into the paracord and you can go fishing. So, you can enjoy your dinner in no time.
In case sitting and waiting for the fish to bite isn’t your thing, snare traps can also be made using the nylon cords of these bracelets. This can trap small animals that are passing by. You can create this trap using the Paracord from your survival bracelet. Tie one end to a tree and create a noose on the other end. Make sure that the noose is loose enough so that it will tighten once an animal is tripped into it. Aside from these, there are still various situations in which your Paracord bracelet can be used for creating a fire, as a tourniquet, and so much more.

How To Make a Paracord Bracelet: Instructions
Here we will show you how to create a Paracord bracelet that includes a side release buckle that you can wear as a bracelet. On a bigger scale, Paracord bracelet is a great way to be stylish while being prepared for all types of emergency in the wilderness.
Step One: Prepare the materials
First of all, what you need to do is to prepare all the materials that you will need namely: the Paracord, a ruler or tape measure, scissors, a lighter and a side release buckle. The length of the cord will differ depending on the length of your wrist. Approximately, one foot of the cord can create an inch of a knot. Hence, if the length of your wrist is 8 inches, then you need to have around 8 feet of cord.
Step Two: Measure the cord
Next, in order to measure the paracord accurately, you need to wrap it around your wrist and mark the portion where the end meets the rest of the cord after you wrap it around your wrist.
Then, place the cord next to the ruler or tape measure in order to determine the size of your wrist by noting where the marked portion ends at parallel to the ruler or tape measure.
Step Three: Choose clasp for your Paracord bracelet
Next, locate the center of the cord by holding both ends and insert the looped center into the buckle.
After doing so, place the two ends of the cord into the looped center and then tighten the cord by pulling both ends. The looped center should now serve as a knot that holds both the ends of the cord in place.
Step Four: Measure the length of the Paracord bracelet
Next step is to unlock the buckle. Get the detached forked head and then insert the ends of the cord inside it.
To make the bracelet more precise in measurement, place it next to a ruler or tape measure in order to determine the length of the bracelet. Add an extra one inch to make it feel comfortable on your wrist. Ignore the forked part when measuring the buckle because you are going to insert this into the other part of the buckle.
Step Five: How to tie a Paracord knot
For this example, we will do a cobra stitch knot starting from the forked head of the buckle. This is also known as Solomon bar and Portuguese sinnet.
Start by putting the left end cord under the two center strands. Then, place the right cord under the outlying part of the left cord, then over the center strands and in the left loop of left cord. Tighten the cords in order to form a knot. Now you have formed the first half knot.
To follow, wrap the arching right cord under the center strands and then on top of the left cord. Then get the left cord, still under the right cord, place into the newly created loop of the right cord, over the center strands.
Now, tighten up the cords by pulling on them. Do not tighten them too much, just until the initial resistance of the cords are met. Finally, you have your own first knot.
Step Six: Fill all spaces with knots
Then, continue doing the knots alternately between the left and the right sides. If you don’t do it in an alternate manner, you will end up with twisted knots. If this happens, simply undo the last knot and do it again.
After tying the knots, the spaces between the buckle ends should be filled with full knots. Also, the knots should look the same from one end to the other. The secret to having a consistent look and size of the full knots is to apply the same tension when tightening each half knot.
Step Seven: Trim the excess Paracord
Next step is to trim cords close to the final knot using your scissors. To prevent fraying and loosening of the knots, quickly melt the newly-cut ends using a lighter. Wait for a few seconds for the melted ends to cool, then press the ends with your thumb to flatten and make the strands stick together.
If you don’t want to melt the ends, then you can just tuck it inside the last knots. However, keep in mind that doing this can create a slight bulge on your bracelet.
Finally, this is how it would look like. By the time that you are already familiar with what you are doing, you can make the knots tighter, looser, or keep them closer together. After going through the process, you might have noticed that you have to practice more and more to create that perfectly knotted paracord bracelet. This may sound daunting but we can’t reduce the fact that the process of making a paracord bracelet is very relaxing and calming. In your journey to becoming an excellent paracord bracelet maker, you will undoubtedly create stunning pieces of paracord accessories for your loved ones. These can make an excellent gift most especially for their birthdays.
Having a paracord bracelet while enjoying life in the great outdoors gives anyone another layer of security. Furthermore, aside from the great style and unique design, the uses of your Paracord bracelet are nothing scoff at. Just like James Little, a sniper in Iraq, who got hit by a shrapnel in the leg. In order to stop the bleeding, he unwove his Paracord bracelet and created a tourniquet, consequently, saving his life.
